영상에서는 화장품을 얼굴에 바르는 여성을 보여줍니다. 화장품의 양이 증가함에 따라 여성의 얼굴은 점점 화장품으로 가려지고 그로테스크한 창조물로 점진적으로 변하게 됩니다. 개입과 개조의 행위를 보여주는 이 작품은 미묘한 형태의 육체적, 정신적 침략을 다룹니다. 작업은 주체가 점차적으로 중요한 동작을 수행할 수 없는 객체 자체로 변하는 것을 시각화합니다.

'Leveling' at Gallery Baton's 'Observation Deck'
Gallery Baton is delighted to announce LINDA HAVENSTEIN’s ‘Leveling’, until 27th January 2018 at Observation Deck(B1) of Gallery Baton's video art project space.
The video shows a person applying a cosmetic product to their face. With increasing amounts of the cosmetic treatment the facial cream covers the face more and more, showing the person's gradual transition into a grotesque creature. The work showing an act of intervention and alteration of oneself deals with subtle forms of physical and psychological auto- aggression. The work visualizes how the subject who was a main agent of activity gradually turns into an object rendering itself unable to perform vital actions.
